Las Vegas Traffic Crash Totals
The most useful traffic crash statistics come from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), which reports annual car accident numbers for all crashes its officers investigate.
LVMPD has jurisdiction over the city of Las Vegas as well as the unincorporated communities in the valley outside the city limits that are viewed as “Las Vegas,” such as The Strip. Thus, LVMPD’s statistics generally cover all traffic accidents in the Las Vegas Valley except those in Henderson and North Las Vegas, which have their own police forces.
According to the 2025 report, LVMPD investigated 18,109 traffic accidents, including 773 pedestrian accidents. Compared to 2024, Metro recorded a 1.8% decrease in total crashes and a 6.8% decrease in pedestrian collisions.
Of these crashes, 4,634 collisions were classified as hit-and-run accidents. LVMPD only cleared 23% of these crashes, meaning they arrested or cited the hit-and-run driver. This rate fell compared to 2024, when the department had a 25% clearance rate.
The Metro areas with the highest crash volumes were Spring Valley, South Central, Eastern, and Southeast. The areas with the lowest crash volumes were Airport, Convention Center, Northwest, and Summerlin. Keep in mind that these volumes do not necessarily correlate to crash risk because these areas vary in size and population.
Injury and Fatality Statistics for Las Vegas Auto Collisions
In 2025, Metro reported 158 fatal collisions and 11,534 non-fatal injury collisions. The department did not report the total number of injuries. It did report that 163 people died and 73 people suffered critical injuries.
You can likely assume that more than 11,534 people were injured in Las Vegas Valley car accidents in 2025—many collisions result in multiple injuries of varying severities, which can include:
- Possible injuries, where the victim complains of pain or other symptoms but has no visible wound
- Minor injuries, where the victim has a visible wound but can function normally
- Severe injuries, where the victim is incapacitated and requires assistance
In 2025, fatal crashes investigated by Metro included:
- Three fatal e-bike crashes
- Five fatal e-scooter crashes
- Nine fatal bicycle crashes
- 67 fatal pedestrian collisions
These numbers are shockingly high. Using the total number of pedestrian accidents reported by Metro, nearly 9% of all accidents in which a car hit a pedestrian resulted in death.
Common Causes Of Nevada Traffic Accidents
Las Vegas has a problem with careless driving. Most accidents were attributed to risky driving behaviors, including speeding, failing to yield the right of way, and failing to remain in a marked lane.
Moreover, 54 of the city’s fatalities were caused by drivers impaired by alcohol, cannabis, or illegal drugs. This means that just under one-third of the city’s traffic deaths occurred in DUI accidents.
